  • NPD (3X), New Set Up/Completed Board

There's nothing like the quest for tone; the thrill of the chase to the amount of research to obtaining it. Today, that quest for me pretty much ended. While I enjoy talking gear, I really haven't had much GAS (other than getting the last few things for my board. I'm set on guitars (PRS CE 22 & Gibson Les Paul), set on my amp (Mesa Stiletto Ace) and now I'm finally set on my board.

I know from the look of the board, it looks like I'm one of those ambient guys, I'm not. Far from it. My style and the music I play is original (Alternative, Modern, Rock, some Pop Rock/90s).

    Quick Review:

Joyo PXL Pro is a fantastic loop switcher that is actually affordable. They usually run around $100-$130 used and go pretty quickly on the open market. Solid build. What sold me on the PXL Pro is that 1. it has 4 trigger outs (I only really need) so it allows me to change channels on my amp for any preset, 2. it has a bank up/bank down (some only have bank up which can be annoying) and 3. each preset has a bypass (for instance preset 1A has delay and chorus on clean channel, I press 1A again, it bypasses all pedals and goes to my dirty channel. That is fantastic.

Nuenaber Immerse and Neunaber Inspire. If you haven't heard about Neunaber, Youtube it now! Seriously, I'll wait. This is a fantastic company, great customer service, owner legit will discuss gear and what he'll be doing at Namm this year with you on their FB page. Seriously quality is top notch. Most versatile pedals on the market. I'll put any of my Neunaber pedals up against Eventide, Strymon, Mr Black, Alexander, Cusack, etc.

Immerse is an amazing multi reverb pedal (wet, plate, spring, hall, shimmer, detune, echoverb). They're more modern sounding, not really traditional, but are highly useable. Check out Pete Thorn's demo of it on youtube.

Inspire is a multi tri chorus pedal. The pedal offers delay (not a substitute for a secondary delay, but does work well for adding texture to the trichorus), detune (for you Police needs), Vibe almost rotatory style, and multiple chorus types.

Now if your looking at my board, I do not have 2 chorus pedals. The Chroma chorus is running the Scatter Delay algorithm. That's the nice feature on Neunaber Stereo pedals. Plug in a USB cable, connect to computer and download any algorithm from the free software. The software has over 30+ algorithms. You can change it to any pedal in their line up like I did. I change a chorus to a delay. Similar to what TC does, but TC restricts you to that type of pedal.

      Nice setup!

Irony: You have the Stiletto Ace, and I'm Ace. I'm Ace and have the Deuce.

      Anyway - very cool arrangement.

What channels do you use on the Ace and for what?

What sort of effect combos do you use?

Chorus w/ delay setting for the win!!!!!

I mainly stick to 2 channels: fat clean and tite gain. I plan on really sitting down with the amp and trying others out. I had it for like almost 2 years and still dont k ow all the nuances of it.

As for combo efx, right now i programmed bank 1 so far. It has all my cleans with titegain channel as by pass which allows me clean to dirty.

            1A: delay with chorus
1B: scatter delay with either plate or detune
            1C: delay with shimmer
            1D: delay, plate and chorus.

The chorus has tons of tri chorus options from tri, hex, harmonic, etc.

Good looking rig right there! I love those mini-wah pedals. i'm going to have to give one a shot and build a small board for small gigs.

It really isn't motivating when pretty much any setting +/- a little treble sounds so damn good....

I have been wanting a Slate for some time and you seem like the perfect person to ask if it's worth the money.

Short answer is yes, long answer is yeeeeeeeeeesssss.

Seriously, download the software, its free and just take a look at what they have to offer. Some of the best verbs and delays out there.
