About the only downside I found was more noise. I also found that I needed to run the pedal with the master volume of the pedal a little on the negative side because the signal in the loop was a lot hotter than guitar level.

ANALOGMAN and a few other mod companies offer a 50 dollar mod on some EQ pedals to bring the buffer noise floor down 10-15 dB .

almost a must if you run EQ pedal in the effects loop IMO>

Yeah, as I side note I did the monte allums GE-7 mod and it cut down the noise noticeably.
