Re: volume pedal or boost pedal?
I use either a booster or compressor. Or, with a really great amp, the volume knob on the guitar.Administrator of the SDUGF

Boost.
I have used a volume, but I prefer to preset a level and move on. I don’t finesse it during a solo.Originally posted by Bad City

Re: volume pedal or boost pedal?
I have a clean boost pedal, and it works properly, and a Morley little alligator with the useful knob to set the minimum volume. Not sure, in truth, which I prefer the most. While the boost is straight after the distortions, the volume pedal is at the end of the chain, right before the delay. I have already tried the GT OD as a boost of an already dirty amp but it's not enough

Re: volume pedal or boost pedal?
I built volume choke in fx loop for the job:
Poor picture, but it's the green box in corner.
It has two volume pots. Left footswitch bypasses both and right switches between them.
i get clean tones with volume pedal and use bypass to balance the volume with OD. Right footswitch also switches fx loop in front of amp on/off, and that i use for solo boost."So understand/Don't waste your time always searching for those wasted years/Face up, make your stand/And realize you're living in the golden years"
