  • Need a boost.

I’m looking for a boost pedal to let me use low-output single-coil pickups to overdrive the Blues channel on my V-Twin. I’ve never had a boost pedal before, and I don’t know anything about them. Help?

Isn't that what that gold "Klone" you have is for?

The Pickup Booster is a pedal expressly designed for this. It is a clean boost, but it has a resonance switch for single coils to make them sound more like boosted humbuckers. If you want something not as clean, look at the Killing Floor.

        Exactly! (Klone)
I tried a dozen or so different boost pedals a couple years back. Personally I prefer an EQ pedal (which you have) or an OD (which you already have) with volume high and gain low.
Having said that, treble boosters are a whole different thing. Not MY thing, but definitely A thing and you can't it get from any other pedal.

          1. Do you want to "power" the channel from clean to break up?
          2. Do you want to choose it from breakup to "more" breakup?
          3. Do you want to avoid the use of outboard gain on this?

We are talking the difference between an MXr Micro amp, or Pickup Booster, and a Tumnus, or an SD1 or whatever....

Well the 805 should be a good boost, and with an active EQ it can about whatever you want it to be as a boost.
The modded Boss EQ7 can be a coloring boost or a clean level boost.

So I might already have what I need in stock or on the way.

Cheer up TMD -you've got this.. 2021 is on it's way -you can do it, you've got your youth, your health, your guitar,.... and the world is your oyster.

People think you are awesome and the best is yet to come.

Is that the boost you needed?

I was thinking of something that would fit on a pedalboard.

No idea. I know two things:

1.) I have the world’s quietest pickups in my Strat.
2.) The front end of the V-Twin needs to be slammed to get overdrive out of it.

Sounds like slamming it won't OD it enough.

Get an RC booster....something that has level boost and Gain "help". Klon copy, Tumnus, SD808, whatever...

It can certainly be used this way. Most ODs will function well as a boost.

In looking through this thread I would suggest some type of Dallas Rangemaster clone. There are a ton of them out there I have two both by BBE the Freq Boost (discontinued) and the Bohemian Boost which has an added bias control. Both are monster pedals. There are dozens of other flavors of this pedal that Page, Iommi, May and others used to goose their signals..

                              Still want a boost pedal.

                              1.) One knob?
                              2.) Multiple knobs?

How is the Seymour Duckman pickup booster?
