Silver Lake and Andromeda, attempted backup, both pedals now non-functional!!

Building a new pedalboard with a Silver Lake and Andromeda. Downloaded the updater (had to jump through security hoops to get it to install!) Started backup process to save factory settings before overwriting...followed instructions perfectly. Removed power from unit, held in button with paper clip, after re-applying power (9v, 250 ma) while holding down and then releasing when powering...unit won't power on....tried same with Andromeda....same result. Both pedals sitting there dead. Help!

Wow, sorry about both of the pedals...that's pretty awful. There are a few people on this forum with those pedals, so maybe they can come in and share a few things to try. I would also try to call SD Customer Service, and see if there is some kind of factory reset procedure you can try.
 
I also have had this problem while attempting a firmware update of my Andromeda, which I'd like to share, perhaps to simply warn off people from attempting to upgrade beyond the warranty period.

Right now my pedal is completely dead, it wont power on and there is no official documentation available even on SD website, some posts around here suggest pressing the little hidden button while powering on, even that seems to not work, tried with 3 different power supplies.

It's worth mentioning now that this has happened before, some months ago, at that time I took it to my dealer and they sent it away, it came back functional but it didn't seem to work the same, I think it maybe had regressed to a factory setting and perhaps originally it had been sold with the latest firmware (it had better, less choppy response to delay time changing).

anyway I might have to take it back again but this time I want to know exactly what that repairman did to reset it, maybe they have to flash the bootloader from an internal header or something, this time I will require it to be with the latest firmware installed.

seeing that there are others with this issue I think that SD hasn't made the firmware update robust enough, the bootloader has to be bullet proof, sure it's a rare problem but I suspect most people will never attempt a firmware upgrade.

Upgrade error message:
Timed-out waiting for bootloader. Please
disconnect and power-cycle your Andromeda
then restart the update process.

Welcome to the forum! I am sorry it is because of this, though!

I'd see if you can contact SD directly. They might have some tricks that we don't have here. If they do get back to you, I'd like to know too. I have a Silver Lake, and I haven't updated it (haven't checked if it needs it), but stories like this make me freak a bit. I don't like anyone having to go through this.
 
I just bought one of these pedals off reverb and played it one day and decided to update it and the exact same happened to me. Has anyone found a solution to this? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
 
Welcome to the forum!

Contacting SD directly (tell us what they said) might be the way to go. They might have a few test modes to try that we don't have access to here.

did you find out how the repairman reset it? Would be interested in knowing or sending mine off to be repaired as well.

I had the same issue with my silver lake. It was dead. No power. That seems to have been recovery mode. My cable for connecting to my computer was possibly too thin. It would work for a phone but not for my silver lake. I found a thicker usb cable and it came right on when connecting. Apparently it was the cable all along. If you have several cables try one until it works. My thicker guage usb cable worked and it came right on when I used it.
