  • NOPD BOSS BF-2 Flanger (Japan) January 1982

Straight from the land of the rising sun.

A 1982 BOSS BF-2 Flanger with black label Japan sticker in great condition with box and instruction sheet in Japanese.

But I won't be using it for the flanging effect.... no, it will be used for something far more sinister...

Now that is a Flanger. Had one of those myself. It was a little later 80's make but man, that swoosh was perfect.

Perhaps surprisingly, this is my first BOSS pedal since oh say 1992.

I had the old original BOSS pedalboard and a bunch of pedals (including the PS-1 power stomp) but I wound up selling them after moving around some.

        Weaponized brick?

I have the same model, 1984 MIJ. Modded it with the Fromel mod kit to give it a bit more body. I keep it in the FX loop, dialed in as close to a chorus as I can. Not a bad little box, though it could certainly do with a mix knob.

I have the same pedal. Someone gave it to me, free, back in the 1990's. I tried it once, ran through all the possible settings. It was pretty piercing. I haven't used it since. I couldn't find a piece of music it fit with. Something sinister might be the right usage.

I helped my cousin get rid of his years ago. I think I sold it for like 35 dollars.

Flanger and phaser are two effects I never care about.

Maybe if I paint mine a different color, it will sound better.

I know if I put stickers on it, I might play faster.

I've tested it and it works perfectly.

And the tone is in there (again, I'm not using it for the flanger effect).

Do these do a seasick vibrato kind of thing like my MXR micro-flanger? (like blackhole sun effect)

Flangers are my favourite choruses. I haven't played a boss flanger for a very long time, but remember really liking the one I used.

As much as the BF2 is a classic, I have to go with the BF3. It has a LOT going for it.

My BF2 scratches my itch. If I need to do anything fancier I use my Eventide or MOOG
