Deluxe Muff is the best Muff

Got myself a nice Deluxe Muff! I had an OpAmp version already, but it's kind of a one trick pony. I did some A/B testing and I can pretty much get the Deluxe to match the OpAmp tone almost exactly. Plus it does a bunch more stuff too. And it was only about 30 bucks more expensive. I like it.

I have owned the metal muff with top boost twice before
And the metal muff regular sized one as well.
I prefer the pocket or nano model tone-wise. I still own one of those .

They are a lot of fun for sure.

I love Muffs on albums, but rarely love them when I am playing. That said the Germanium Muff is high on my list of pedals I want to try out.

Yes, this is one of the primary reasons I bought it actually. The unit comes with presets in the manual for this reason. And Muff aficionado Kit Rae has a bunch of settings on his website for various Muffs. Presets aside, the range on this is huge. I can get anything from vintage sounding dark and midrangy tones to super scooped and bright chug tones. And the attack knob is killer for getting some articulation back. I'm having a blast with this thing right now. I'm very happy with my purchase.

Yeah, the Muff almost seems like it was designed for studio use. Using it live can be tricky.

By the way, I know they discontinued the Germanium 4 Big Muff this year. So you might want to keep an eye on them. It looks like brand new ones can still be bought. After those are gone, I can imagine used prices might go up. Just a guess though.

I'm not that worried about it at the time. It sounds good, but I think I like my Twin Bender and Keeley Jave better still for similar tones to the two sides on the Germanium Muff. For fatter tones I have a Keeley Fuzz Bender that sounds downright gargantuan, and a two Plasma Coil Fuss pedals, one Game Changer and one 3rd Man collab that sound like a fuzztortion into an amp about to explode. I've also got a Foxx Tone Machine Clone that sounds pretty damn huge as well.

I've had a tone more Muff, Fuzz Face, and Tone Benders over the years, ut, well you know, once one dives into the fuzz rabbit hole there's no turning back.
