Have a look at Steve Lukather's rig rundown 2024...

I'm quite happy with the Alexander delays - using a Quadrant on the small board and a History Lesson on the larger one.
Four presets is exactly enough for me, especially given tap tempo & a voltage pedal to sweep between two sets of settings in each preset.

First preset is a crisp doubler with just a hint of modulation (pedal down turns this into a straight, slightly gritty slapback)
Second preset is a single repeat for lead lines: either warm / medium length / almost subliminal, or brighter / longer / more noticeable
Third preset is pristine rhythmic digital delay, with the pedal varying the amount of regen from just a few to nearly infinite repeats
The last is classic dirty-analog flyaway echo, here the pedal sweeps pitch/time (at max delay, it also rolls back the regen a bit, for a natural trailoff).

Both delays' knobs have a second set of functions so you actually have eight controls, all stored as part of a preset.
Control pedal can be assigned in each preset to any knob functions - just one, or a couple, or all.
Both delays also feature an adjustable spillover function assignable to any presets where you want.
The two pedals behave a lot alike - while the Hist Lesson offers a few extra modes & capabilities, tweaking either box is much the same.

[These can store/recall 12 presets via MIDI, but I only use MIDI in my rack rig; that pedalboard is just program change & two control pedals, no stompboxes.]

Some forms of music are very delay laden, requiring specific delays for "That" sound

For example, the 321ms Van Halen Slap, the Edge dotted 8ths, etc....

All of this "on the fly" is why I had 4 delays on my board. No "on the fly" changes live.

Or - just get a programmable.

Anyway - it's a lot of delay for a single stomp. And it does have tap tempo.

Currently, I either use presets on an HX Effects, or a DL4 mkII.

Before the H90 I would sometimes need to change the delay time on the Carbon Copy depending on the song, usally bouncing between slapback and multitap. I could easily roll that knob with my foot with the MXR. Now we have two songs with duel delays both very diffeent settings. There is no way I could make those adjustments between songs. With the H90 simply need to bank up to what I want and I have my MXR like slapback and multitap setting in there now also. The Carbon Copy is now on my bass player's board.

It sounds cool but I like to run duel delays in parrallel. Also trying to manipulate those duel knobs on the fly is challenging. I have them on my BOSS Mega Distortion which is set it and forget it. With a delay I am making adjustments through the set. I also do not see an option to use one delay at a time, could be there I just don't see it.

Yeah, that looks way cool. I'm not in the market for another delay but if I was, that one would be on the list.

I saw a few demos of it today, and it sounds fantastic. Boss/Roland has a ton of delay pedals these days, from the regular stompboxes to the more complex preset-based ones. I'd love to hear how this one compares to others in the lineup.
