I'm currently using an 8-38 set on my Mustang, as a guy who usually plays 11-52. It's doing wonders to improve me as a player. Such a short scale and tiny strings, you have to catch yourself from running away with bends.

Hybrid sets like, 9-46, 10-48? Yeah, they exist. I like 10-46 or 10-48 mostly. I play so much that I overbend 9's at times.

Why not use a hybrid set with light top heavy bottom?

Your guitar string gauge matters. Let’s find the perfect set of strings for YOU and YOUR playing style in this National Guitar Academy mega-guide!

its dumb, but while lots of manufacturers say 09, its actually thousandths of an inch, so .009 is correct.

.009 is right... .09 is super thick. Would make a good low G for doom.
