NPD: Duncan Pup Booster Limited Edition Black.

Artie

It arrived. I wish I had the photography skills to show how this thing looks. You have to hit it in just the right light to see any logo or control labels.
Otherwise, it just looks black. Luxurious Black.

It arrived late. I'll have to wait 'til tomorrow to hear how it sounds.

I also like that it came in that same little string-pull bag like an Antiquity comes in.

Well, the Mini can't use a battery. But other than that, I haven't compared them directly...

if you put it first inline, and use the resonance control set on 1 with a vintage output single coil guitar, you get just the right amount of thickness (at least for me) for taking a on the edge of break up amp and pushing it for a great solo tone

Yeah, I love both settings...usually one of them works better for a specific guitar. The resonance switch is a great addition to a boost pedal.

I'm jealous, Artie! That is one sexy boost!

So glad that SD is still producing their Pickup Booster. It's a great pedal that gets overlooked way too often.

I haven't even tried it yet. The fact that it's a booster implies that you want to crank it a bit. I'm waiting for my wife to go shopping, so I can wring her out a bit.

Suweet! The wife spent the night at the grandkids, so I could wring this out. It makes my DD Lipstick Tubes sound like Cool Rails. I don't know why, but it's slightly different than the original SFX-01. The SFX-01 makes things louder, while this one seems to add some spank and punch. (Like a CR.) Putting the knob at 12 o'clock is the perfect amount of boost.

This thing was definitely designed for singles. (IMHO.) It adds the same spank and punch to my Peavey T-30, with the "square-ish" rail singles, and especially to my Patriot with the big Super Ferritte singles. (Think "rail" Phat Cats.) The small singles sound like Cool Rails, and the big singles sound like Hot Rails. But different. Just loud fun.

Humbuckers just get louder. Except the Dano Lipstick Tube humbuckers. This thang loves Lipstick Tubes.

On the down side, the resonant switch does nothing. I wonder if mine is broken. There is no difference as you strike a note and the flip the switch back and forth through it's positions. None at all. I'm doing guitar>cable>booster>cable>amp. When I get a chance, I'll open her up and see if everything is wired right.

But that's ok. It's sweet just as it is. Did I mention that this thang loves Lipstick Tubes?

The notch positions, #2 and #4 are especially sweet. Jingle jangle punch and spank. Suweet.

Really? I have the brown version of the PB and the Resonance switch really does change the sound of my Strat.

i have the old red version, and the switch definitely makes a difference. sounds like it does its thing (other than the res switch) well!

Ha. Thanks. Playing with it some more, I do notice a very subtle change in pos #2, but still not in #1. I'm going to play with it with some more guitars.

I'll report back.
