Thats interesting, never noticed that before.

If we wanted to get real technical, we could say that all p'ups distort to some extent. Its what gives them their characteristic sound.

The strings vibrate in a more or less sinusoidal pattern. What comes out of the pickup is far from sinusoidal, ergo, the pickup is "distorting" the waveform.

    Perhaps thats what they mean.

Good question. The description for the SH-14 was not written by me. It was written by numerous members of this forum (who also chose the name "Custom 5").

So, to those of you who wrote the description, "yah, what the heck were you thinking?"

Ah ...well, I'll take a stab here ... maybe they meant the way it interacts with that thing over there in the corner with the tubes and speakers ... oh yeah, the *AMP*! ... I mean, it's not like the pups cause the amp to respond differently ...
Shheeshhh, come on guys, you know what they meant...

            those arent my words but...
i assume they are talking about the fact that when playing into an overdriven amp the c5 has a cleaner tone than the sh5 or sh11
