  • Finally got a Custom!

    Hey guys -

I posted on this site a while back and I'm not much of a regular, but I just wanted to stop in and say that I decided on the SH-5 for bridge humbucker in my Schecter. I just installed this baby and...

WOW. That's about all I can say. I play mostly hard rock, metal and some blues, and this 'bucker really is balanced enough to play almost any style of music - while still packing a bunch of punch 'n crunch. I can nail almost any tone with this thing. I'm seriously in love.

For all you folks looking for versatility in a pickup with incredibly balanced tone and the perfect amount of power, go with the SH-5.

Feel free to use this thread to share your personal experiences with the Custom!

Thanks, bud! I love the new sound so much that I played until my fingers became raw....

The SH-5 IS a great humbucker, isn't it? I put one in my G400 about a year and a half ago and fell in love with the pickup then. I liked it so much I took the Pearly Gate out of my Les Paul and replaced it with a Custom....hated to break up the PG duo in that guitar, but the Pearly just wasn't giving me the kind of output I wanted. The SH-5 puts out just enough to be healthy but not over the top. I agree with T.F.'s analogy of it's sound. It's good for many styles of music.

Kewl! I settled on the SH-5 in my Omen 7! I don't regret it for a second. The guitar kills as far as tone is concerned. I especially like the open balanced response. Not too much output, but tons of harmonics. It's a great pup choice that I'd recommend in a heartbeat.
