No, not coil-splitting, and not a serial parallel switch....

But, I wonder if it would be worthwhile to make a humbucker with tappable coils. Foir example, the custom series could be tapped so that each coil has around 3.75k of resistance, which when combined, would give you a 7.5k humbucker. So, you will have the choice of either running it full (15k) or tapped (7.5k).

Would that even be worthwhile? Has any pickup maker ever tried?

I spoke with one of the guys a DMZ about doing this to the X2N ... It would appear that no one was interested( this was about 6 years back )... Still a great idea I thought, especially on a pup with a bit more low end ... But apparently no one else liked the idea of being able to play in the 2/3 or 1/3 position and then kick in a boost .. go figure huh? The main limitation I wholeheartedly agree with ... space limitations, as you can wind more wire on a SC type bobbin than a HB style bobbin. If you could get all positions to be useful tone wise ... that's the real key.
Plus most people aren't cool with 6 conductor cable, they seem to have enough trouble with four.
