Anyone ever try this for the feck of it? Just curious on how a Twangbanger in the bridge will sound in an all mahogony ESP LTD w/rosewood fingerboard. I have two of these guitars and want to try something different.

Never tried it, but the Phat Cat might be worth looking at if your in the market for P90 tones....

Someone posted a pic of a moutning ring that's cut for a slanted s/c. Check All Parts, if they have 'em, you're in business!! Nothing better than a Slanted Tele birdge pup to make a mohogany guitar sound good!!

+1 for the Phat Cat in a mahogany LP style guitar.

A Phat Cat might blend with the bridge 'bucker a bit better, but I've used both - Phat Cats and real Tele pups and they all sound great. I'll never go back to neck humbuckers. Single coils get a lot more information from the neck position.

Excellent, thanks guys. I already have a phat cat set in there, but have been getting into The Police and classic B-52's with guitarist Ricky Wilson. I use a 70's strat re-issue/maple fingerboard (MIM) with Fat 50's for that. I'm just partial to the TOM bridge and the archtop bodies.....just want that twang!!!!

I would LOVE to try a quarter pounder or classic stack in the BRIDGE of my Les Paul. I liked the Classic stack in my Tele.
I already have those plastic mounting plates to put a SC into an HB spot....
I have the tone disconnected and a 500k volume pot right now.
Anyone done this ??? I just want to know if it was a disaster and why..
thanks

Someone here put two QP in his les paul about two years ago.

Yep lots of times.
In fact from time to time I get sick of necks buckers and stick a single coil in there.
It's nice has some snap but not as bright and glassy as a strat.
In fact I don't know if I should get an Alnico II pro or a Phat Cat for my Dot.

Did he live to tell the tale ?? !!
I know I have to try it myself but before I do, I was curious (before I blow $70+)

If you want QP sound in a humbucker try the GFS Bigmouth. I have a couple and they are great.

I've been putting Phat Cat's in the neck position of 335's & SG's, with a HB on the bridge. To me, at least in Gibson-style guitars, in the neck a Phat Cat is a bit on the dark side with it's twin A2 magnets, so I replace one with an A5 and that treble boost really gives it that open single coil sound.

I highly recommend a HB/Phat Cat combo, with an A2/A5 magnet pair the PC. One of the best PU's pairings you can own.

I put a DMZ single in the neck of my paul...real nice sounding...as described above....nice warm tone not as glassy as a strat....currently I have an EMG H in the neck(single in a humbucker housing...NOT a P-90) and still get essentially the same nice Strat neck tone with more low end:)

Man, i STILL have not tried it, not enough time on my hands.

Not replaced;I was modding my LP neck pup with pole magnets. This involved widening the pole piece holes very slightly.I got one slightly out of line and cut the coil. One effed coil.Solution;take out the coil and run the pup single coil.It works fine[with pole magnets].
