  • help me with pickups

    I have a epi.les paul classic.the music I play is southern rock and classic rock.I don't like any mud,and nothing ice picky.I like a neck pu with a acoustic sounding cleans,and a bridge with deep souful distortion[ if this helps] So what pickups do you guys recommend. thanks for your help

      My experience with an Epi LP I owned was that it was a very bright guitar. YMMV on that. I had a C5/59' set in it, and it was just always too edgy. My suggestion would be to start with an Alnico 2 magnet in whatever I chose.

      PG Set - nice raw blusey southern/texas rock sound

      APH II set - think Slash tones, roll back the gain and there you are in Muscel Shoals.

      Seth Lover set or Antiquity set - all the old souther rockers used PAF style pups for the most part...it don't get more PAF than these.

        PG set or Seth set. The Seth's will be smoother and the PG will have a bit more cut to them.
