  • Anyone tried a Jazz neck with an A2 magnet? How would it be?

Im pretty sure that when i do get my replacement les paul pickups ill be getting a jazz for the neck, and while ive got no trouble choosing this i did always love the idea of all the a2 type pickups in the neck too like a a2p neck or a seth even...and then it just dawned on me that i could swap out the a5 magnet for an a2 in the jazz and see how that goes!

    So how would this sound?

Or better yet, has anyone tried it or got clips of it?

    Cheers

i've got in a2 in my jazz neck.

i felt that the jazz with an a5 was a little harsh on the treble side, so i tried the a2.

it's still an extremely clean, articulate pickups, but the harsh highs are gone and it's a tad warmer overall. i'm very glad i switched out the magnet.

I have an A3 Jazz in my Wolfgang. To me, it sounds halfway in between an Alnico II Pro and a Pearly Gates. Brighter and less bassy than the A2P, but with less treble and brightness than the Pearly Gates.
