  • Single coil size humbucker for Tele ,which Vol. pot?

I`m thinking of putting a single coil size humbucker in my Tele , something like the Dimarzio Tone ZoneT or SD Hot Rails. Both are much higher output than stock and should get some good hard rock tones. My question is should I upgrade to 500k vol. pot or will the 250k work ok , I was thinking the tone could get muddy with 250K ?

    Thanks!

Get the hotrails, you wont be sorry. Why not try both? No one can tell you what you like, and since pots are cheap, you can experiment and see what you like.

Yeah, I'ld go with Beandip on this one. Your guitar tone is important. Take the time to see which way works best for you. One man's "muddy" is another mans blues.

I agree. Get the Hot Rail and use the stock pots first. If you need more clarity and top end, switch to 500k.

FYI, I use 500k pots with the lil series pickups in my Strat. Use whatever works for you.

I would recommend upgrading to the 500k if you get hot rails
I did and then realised that my guitar already had 500k pots already !!
