  • Compared Specs On Texas Hots And The Surfers..

Check this out guys...The specs on both models of these pickups is "identical" with only these two exceptions..

Surfers use A5 poles and have South magnet polarity..
Texas Hots use A2 poles and have North polarity...

Every other spec listed for both sets is the same..Both sets are alot closer than they are different..Making any sense?

Yeah, it makes sense. Its sorta like micro-processor chips. They don't actually make 1.3ghz, 1.4ghz, 1.5ghz, etc chips. They all roll down the same line, then they test them. If they pass at 2 gig, they become 2 gig, if not, they go on to test at 1.9 gig, and so on and so forth til they pass. The "speed" of a chip is like its quality control grading.

Given all the "mojo" that goes into the making of a p'up, I'm surprised that any two would ever sound the same.

Yeah..I'm sure just the difference is the A5 vs A2 poles...At least that's probably what I'm hearing and I have pretty good ears! The A5 makes the Surfers have more presence(brighter)chimier, and more articulate...I percieve less lows with the Surfers but what I hear more than likely is more presence, but with the lows being just like the Texas Hots...
