    back to the direction of the screws?
    you guys say to set them like a zig zag?
    how bout if they are like this?

    all of them uniform across?

      Then I guess having the pieces perpendicular or zig zagged would do the same thing?

        Good point warren and paper... I've never read anything about perpendicular orientation... I'd be tempted to think that you'd have an evenly place weak spot when the string vibrates (the same part of the string would always be above the groove... when you put them in zigzag as the string vibrates the part of the string above the groove isn't the same throughout the running course of the string... Would that change something? Not sure.... do as your ears tell you
