I thought SD only did rewinds on their own products... but I guess it makes sense that they would rewind a pair of someone else's... more business plus you get the Duncan quality!

they can rewind other brands of pickups too...$75 each, slightly more if you want a magnet change or a cover added.

i had a steve morse bridge pup rewound. i hated it before, very stiff sounding with loads of mids that sounded lifeless. i tried it in a bunch of guitars thru all my amps and i couldnt get along with it.
i had it rewound to a sh5 pattern but up to 17k with an alnico 5 magnet. it came out great! high output with a full bottom and strong but not overly bright top. i think the allen head pole pieces help keep the sound defined

Hmm...I'd think for $75 I'd just buy a new SD pup...unless the rewindee was really special to me for some reason.

Of course, a new stock SD wouldn't have the custom shop mojo, either

Hey, doesn't Ed Roman sell 'black backs' already set up for the Parker guitars? These are SD pups and you wouldn't have to rewind your old ones.

                  Just a thought...

                          Re: Custom Shop Rewinds?

I have not had it done...yet! think about this, you could pick up most duncan buckers for $70.00-$90.00...you can't touch a set of Custom Shop MJ pups for that kind of money...even used! No matter what kind of pups it is before the rewind...it will be a duncan when it's done...and let me say this, I know it;s been said before but MJ does killer work, and get's it right!!! I am a huge fan of her work, and plan to have a lot more of it before I'm done. If you do get a set of pups rewound, let us know what you do, and how it turns out. I spoke with MJ the other day...she gave my an idea to change the tone of a set of buckers I have...if that does not "fix" the sound for me, I'm gonna send them to her for a re-wind.
