need new pick ups for '75 ricki bass - but what ones????

hello people,

i've got 1975 rickenbacker 4001 which requires new pick ups. now firstly i haven't got a clue about pick ups not to mention 'coils' etc which i've seen mentioned up on this forum. well let's just say i'm not very technically minded.

let me get to the point - i need some guidance on purchasing a new set of pick ups. i play in a band which has quite a sixties garage sound, so i'm looking for something which has a nice warm sound to it. not askin for much!!!

i can't seem to find much places on the net seeling these items, seymour duncans being one of a few, which is selling a hum bucker pick up.

also, a few general questions: do pick ups come as a pair - bass & treble?
do i need to buy a set of pick ups specific for my bass?

i wolud gretaly appreciate any advice that anybody has out there

welcome to the forum!!

i would suggest getting a pair of srb-1's. the neck and bridge pickups are not the same and mount differently so youll want one srb-1n and one srb-1b. youll get a richer warmer tone and less noise

Bridge Pickup


If they're the right size, you'll be pleased with the Basslines pickups. I know they work on a 4003. I'm just not sure about a 4001.
