Bridge pup to replace Demon

As you can see in my sig below I have Demons in both of my SG's. The SG X rules as far as tone and sound go. Its got plenty of bite and growl, clarity and harmonics and the cleans are to die for.

As for my Demon loaded Gothic SG I have problems. First of all, the pup is closer to the bridge than on my SG X which makes for a very clanky dull tone. And the bridge is spaced a little wider than my X so I get string drop out.

So I need to replace this pup with something that has more bass and output to make up for the closeness to the bridge. And do I need to get a trem spaced pup to cure the string dropout?

I'm looking for a fat tone with massive harmonics and bite, but also clarity and openness. And I don't like alot of compression.

So far these are the pups I've settled down to....
Custom
Custom 5
JB

This guitar has an all mahogany body and neck with an Ebony fretboard and will be tuned in C.

Thanks in advance. I'm at your mercy

Between the JB, Custom and C5. Which has the best and most mids? I need the cut thru tone for my band.

Re: Bridge pup to replace Demon

I'd think the JB or Custom...tho I don't think of them as being particularly "open". At cranked rock n roll volumes, I like the C5 too. But at lower volumes I often want to hear more mids from the C5. But less mids often mean a little more "open" tone too! Boy tough call! Maybe the C5 WOULD do the trick. You sure you can't get what you want by adjusting your SD a little differantly? Maybe closer to the strings or something? Lew

Yea Lew, I've adjusted up and down and tweeked my amp and it's still a little clangy and shrill. What I think I'm gonna do is go balls out with a Distortion and put the Demon in the neck. My tone is somewhere between Black sabbath, Zakk Wylde and Danzig. So I need harmonics, clarity and bite..... :32:
