  • does anyone know much about gibson pickups?

    i've always wondered if they make an exposed coil version of the '57 classic plus....anyone know?
    gear:

    '05 gibson les paul studio vintage mahogany (DiMarzio Super Distortion/ SD Jazz)
    '04 gibson SG standard (BurstBucker Pro's)
    mesa/boogie 2-channel dual rectifier (with EL34's)
    marshall 1960A 4x12
    and a few pedals

    Yes they do make them with exposed coils, I just found this:



    "The '57 Classic features Gibson's special Alnico II magnet, vintage enamel coated wire, nickel plated pole pieces, nickel slugs, maple spacers and vintage-style, two-conductor, braided wiring. The '57 Classic is available with genuine gold-plated covers, nickel-plated covers, or open coils".

        psssh, maybe i should have checked the gibson site before posting this. haha.

        thanks man. hopefully i'll be able to obtain one of those bad boys when/if i get my SG.
