  • Alnico II Pro humbucker with an Alnico V magnet

Anyone tried this combo? What was the result?

How is the tone comparable to a 59?

Got one neck with a A5 in it, alittle more top and slightly more bass, but still very balanced and warm, love it.

Is it like a Jazz? That's just something I've heard, maybe you could lay this "rumor? If it is??" to rest.

Eh guess not since the frequency peak on a Jazz is higher up than on an APH-1.
And the A5 magnet only gives slightly more top and bottom.

I have been using the Alnico II mag in this pickup for a while. I really like it. I had a 59 a few years ago and this sort of reminds me of that pickup....though it is a little more low endy.
