  • Alternative pups for a basswood strat

I have recently gotten a Basswood strat body, and a maple neck.
Since I have strat/tele/335/P-90 tones covered, I was wondering what I should do for pups on this guitar...
I am looking for a loud beefy gritty 3-D tone that has a hi-fi note separation and enough output to drive an amp fairly hard.
    I was thinking 3 mini-buckers wired like a strat.
    Anyone ever tried this?

That same idea has been in my head for a while now. My plan is to use the Firebird style minis, since they have blades under the covers, you don't run into any string spacing issues. My choice would be the Custom mini at the neck, Vintage mini in the middle, and the Seymourized mini at the bridge.
    Ain't nothin' but a G thang, baby.

Yup . . . this same idea has appealed to me lately also. I think that its LesStrat that has a nice Strat done in this vein. Perhaps he'll pop in and add comment.

I'm thinking of following in what LesStrat has done, but maybe with a slight variation. Just not sure which variation yet.
