Invader or Dime?

I am thinking about dropping an Invader in my axe, but then i learned there was something called a Dimebucker.
I havent been able to find any sound samples of it. Does anyone have any experince with the difference between these two hum´s? :saeek:

Re: Invader or Dime?

Ive never heard the Dime myself, but it's supposed to be a very high output pickup with lots of clarity and an aggressive high end.

Re: Invader or Dime?

I have not heard darrel play live and i dont have any Pantera in my cd collection, but i have just ordert the guitar book Dimebag Darrells Riffer Madness.

Re: Invader or Dime?

Pantera rules live. I have a video on my comp of Pantera playing primal concrete sledge with a cameo appearance and lead by Zakk Wylde. It's AWESOME. add me to MSN if you want it, I'l send it to you

Re: Invader or Dime?

both the Dime & Invader are very high output units, the major diff here would be the Invader's proficiency for the low freq. i have the Invader in my Ibanez (mahagony) i love it to bits because it gives very good bottom end chug.

Pantera's recordings didn't showcase the Dime in action, i'd suggest you refer to Damage Plan instead.

Here's my take...

Invader for chunky rhythm
Dime for powerful leads as well as chunky rhythm

(can you tell I'm a Dime fan? :laugh2: )

Do you think the Invader is not suitable for leads?

Re: Invader or Dime?

Personally I've always felt that the invader was too muddy and lacked clarity for leads. Or even for intricate rythym work. The Dime has better highs and better clarity and even cleans up nice for some clean work. I'd go with the Dime.

Re: Invader or Dime?

I think I have a copy of a clip by an old memeber, Drucifer... I'll look on my site and see if I can unearth it.

Re: Invader or Dime?

I've used both and really wouldn't use the invader for leads...

as MRID said....

INVADER good for big chugging rhythms
DIMEBUCKER for chunky riffs and screaming solos...

thanks. I was searching for a hum. with a lot of bottom for my 100w powerball.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, I don't think Invaders are really all that bottom HEAVY, but they seem to be a very BALANCED pup all the way across the frequency line, with extremely high output. The bottom end will be accentuated, of course, if you boost that on the amp. They're a great, great sounding pickup, though. That's where my vote goes.
