  • Bridge pickup for Tele: Which Balances with 59n?

I'm thinking of installing a 59n in my ash bodied tele and was wondering which Tele lead pickup would balance best. I have no preference as to humcancelling. I don't wish to install a HR for Tele, as I think that would be too hot for what I do. I plan on playing rock and blues with this guitar, but still be able to get some twang. I was thinking either a JD or a Hot Stack but am open to suggestions. Thanks a bunch, y'all.

My honest opinion? From my experience, the JD would be a great match with the 59n.

      Benjy,
I kind of wonder if a '59 wouldn't be a little bright in an ash body ..

I tried a Seth, and it sounded good, but it overpowered my JD, although I couldn't get the adjustment low enough on that guitar ... that was part of the problem

that's not saying a '59 wouldn't be great, though ... I just feel that ash loves A2 pickups ... like a Seth, AIIP, or PG

I like Alnico II as well, but, to be honest, I have so many parts lying around, I felt like mixing and matching. BTW, I already have the JD at the bridge.

          well, give it a shot!

I'd say the JD is universally loved around here, BTW!

I think I will. Just one more thing: do you know where I can get a pickguard for my tele? It's a 5 hole single ply.

I got mine from Warmoth ..

if you do order from them, you may want to get enough to make the $25 minimum

I forgot to mention it's a Fernandez tele. Does the Fender pattern fit?

With a little 59 you can match the 59n. You can also switch it to parallel for some twang. I had that combo in a tele for a while and it works well. The little 59 is similar to the 59.

After some tweaking, I love the Pearly Gates neck pickup in my ash Strat. I do think that A2 and ash are an awesome combo. Maybe you can try it?

In terms of the Warmoth fitting, you can always trace your existing pickguard and place the screw holes appropriately and fax them the diagram...they told me I could do that but I never did...just had a local shop do it for me.

as far as the pickguard, you might also try asking Fernandes
