  • Original Trembucker or Custom Custom for bridge?

    Hi there,

I just got this strat copy dirt cheap from a garage sale...However it sounds like poop...I wanna put a nice bridge HB in it to make it sound more for hard rock....Right now it sounds pretty thin in the bridge with its no name brand pickups....For a heavy but warm bridge sound I was wondering what would be better?

    PA-TB1B (original trembucker)

    OR

    TB-11 (Custom Custom trembucker)

    Thanks in advance.

I like the original trembucker better. Jeremy Popoff from Lit uses that pickup in his Telecasters, so that'll give you some idea of what you can expect it to sound like. The CC has too much midrange, I never really liked the sound of it. No matter how I adjusted my amp, I couldn't dial in any low end...it sounded like the tone was getting choked by pure midrange.

For strats, a C-5 trem, JB trem, or 59 trem are my faves. I like CC's in LP's but I agree that they sound too dense in mids in a strat. C-5 and 59 balances best with the singles, tonally. You'll also have to buy an H-S-S guard. Actual humbuckers sound better than single sized humbuckers, IMO.
