Wiring Question

I'm re-wiring a tele custom with a Phat Cat in the neck and a 5-2 in the bridge. I'm also using a mini on/on/on toggle for the PU selector.
First question: Do I use 500K pots for the Phat Cat and 250K for the 5-2?
Second Question: I've never used one of these mini toggles before. Do I just use one side of it and connect the hot leads from each pickup to the outside legs of the switch and the out from the middle? It seems right...

Those switches are a little weird in the way they work. So the easiest thing is to wire them like this:



The top half shows the switch positions, the bottom half, how to connect it.

Just use both terminals of top, bottom, and middle.

I figured you might have done what I do sometimes. I hit the "reply" button, 'cause I know I have the drawing archived somewhere, but it may take me several minutes to find it.

Thanks for the diagram. That's kind what I figured it would be. What about the pot values, though? Do you guys think 250K for the 5-2 and 500K for the Phat Cat?

Hey Paul; btw - welcome to the forum.

Since the 5-2 is specifically designed to soften some of the harshness, or "bite", of the high-end, I think I would try 500k's all the way 'round first.

The problem is, if you go with a 500k/250k combo, you'll effectively have 166k when in the middle switch position, which may roll off too much of the p'ups character.

Ultimately, you may have to try it both ways, and see what sounds best to you. Hopefully, someone who's actually used this combo my jump in here.

Thanks for the great info. I'm gonna try it out right now with thw 500k's all around. I'll let you know how it turns out..
