I recently got a JB in the bridge and a Jazz in the neck of my Ibanez RG. I think they are better than the Dimarzio's I had in there before but I'm noit sure if they are the sound I'm looking for. I want the most versatile pick ups with the best tone. I play in an experimental band and I do lots of different styles like Death metal,Jazz-fusion,funk,polka,country fingerpicking. I have a switch that splits all the pick ups and a great tele sound option.
For the bridge on distortion I want to able to have tight metal riffs but still have great tone for solos and lead lines so you can hear every note and they don't get muffled together, good sustain. A high output with not too much mids or treble.
Bridge clean: Not to bright I use it mostly for ska/polka riffs and progressive sounding picking passages where alot of notes ring out
Neck clean:A good jazz tone that you can hear each indivdual notes not muffled together. Bassy but not too bassy but not overkill
Neck dirty:lots of balls and clarity again of individual notes, good sustain.
I'm looking for a sound similar to john petrucci dirty and a jazz-fusion clean.
The jazz weak on distortion and the JB has great tone for solos but I'm not sure about the riffs. Looking for suggestions
