  • Sacrilegious question: EMG-81 wiring advice

Sorry about posting this here, but I received such wonderful help with my Epi (which now has an SH-1B and N in it -- sounds great!) here and I know you guys will know the answer to this simple question.

I have this old guitar with no pickups in it. I also happen to have a spare EMG-81 laying around. The configuration I want is 1 pup in the bridge, 1 volume control (I like the 81's raw).

Is this wiring diagram correct? I modified it from EMG's specs:

    TIA!

If that wire coming from the pickup is co-axial, with the braid soldered to the back of the pot, and the center conductor going to the terminal lug, then it looks ok to me.

    Edit: I just double-checked the pdf file from EMG's website . . . you're good to go.

      Have you tried that before?

If you haven't, I'd like to hear how it works out. I suspect you won't like it however....

Thank you for the confirmation. And yes, I have heard it before.
