SO I decided to get a used Carvin DC-125. It has an alder body with ebony fretboard and floyd rose. I'm looking for a good chuggy metal pickup with nice mids. Thanks!

Re: New guitar coming! Need pickup advice!
Why don't you give the stock pickups some time (chance)? If I wre you, first I'd digest what they do, see what I like and what I don't. Then with an informed perspective (through the use of this forum) make a purchase if you are not satisfied with the stock ones. See?

I've played similar Carvin guitars with these same pickups. They just don't have the clarity I want. I've been looking into Bill Lawrence pickups...the L-500 Lead is interesting....maybe I'll give that one a go...

In a DC135, I'd go with a pair of Cool Rails in the neck and mid and a Distortion at the bridge. If you find the DD too bright, switch to 250k pots to shunt some highs to ground.Ain't nothin' but a G thang, baby.
