    '59 or Jazz?

I'm definitely going with a JB in the bridge, but I'm undecided on the neck. I will use the neck mainly for cleans and some lead work. My guitar is a '93 Gibson Les Paul Studio w/ the ebony fretboard.

    Thanks!

Be radical, put a splittable JB in the neck.

For the neck of a LP I like the Seth, PG, APH, and Jazz. A lot of people like the 59, but I find it too bassy and muddy in the neck of a LP. My current fave in the neck of a LP is a PG. Great high end reproduction, good mids, and clean lows. The APH will be smoother and darker sounding than the PG, while the Seth will have a more hollow character than either and will be less aggressive in the highs and lows than the PG. The Jazz is clean, chimey but still solid when clean and has good bite when driven, but will be lower output than the APH, Seth, or Pearly Gates.
      Ain't nothin' but a G thang, baby.

I always read that - it's cool, but doesn't mean a whole lot to me

well the one thing i like is that the jazz seems voiced to go with the JB moreso than the 59 does, seymour does have great ears after all

Yep - you gotta trust the man who made 'em!

After reading the Jazz vs. PG thread, now I'm wondering about the PG!
