  • Anyone ever try Rio Grande Genuine Texas neck/Muy Grande bridge?

I'm excited to be installing a Rio Grande Muy Grande pickup in my guitar. I need a Super-Stratty sound for precise riffing and chimey stuff, but I've heard that the Muy's usual companion neck pickup, the Tallboy, is more of the same - articulate and Fender-y, but not a REAL humbucker when both coils are on.

I GOTS'TA have that fat, creamy, 'bucker sound for soloing, so I'm considering the Rio Grande Genuine Texas pickup (with a 4-conductor lead) for the neck. Anyone ever try this combo? The guy I spoke with at Rio Grande just called it an unconventional choice, wondered if the pole pieces would line up on an f-spaced axe, and asked to let him know if it worked. . . (sigh)

While I'm at it, how would the BBQ sound in the neck? Too hot, not geared for neck overtones, or downright GODLY?

    Lemme know. . .
Well you can get the kinda sticky-licky love ya crave,
The kinda love-a-knock ya off your feet,
A-but'cha never can get it quite as good as you got
The very first time you meet yer beat!
