Splitting a JB coil ?

Hey i was wondering if anyone has ever "coil tapped" a JB in the bridge?

Something to do with using half the pickup or something? then flicking a pot and the full pickup comes back in use. I find it strangely compelling. was wondering if anyone has done this with this model?

A coil split, what you're talking about, is using only one of the two humbucker coils. Yes, I have a JB bridge coil split on my LP Standard. (I also have a '59 neck coil split on that same guitar.)

Yeah, I had the JB split in my Jackson Kelly, along with the Duncan Distortion neck pickup I had. In the middle position, it was great for cleans.

I too have my JB split (NOT tapped) along with a split Jazz in my Epi LP.

Sound great as a team (when split).

In fact, I once made a demo of this very guitar here.

What is the difference between tapped and split? I always thought they were the same.

Tapped means you're pulling midway through the winds. Split means you're using only one of two humbucker coils.

so tapped is the one that gives you single coil sound while still humbucking?
