  • Hum suggestions please...?

i need pickup suggestions for a double F-hole semi hollow 335ish archtop tele with a maple/maple strat neck...i want to coil tap the hums...

so what would go good with this...and also covered or uncovered...i want smooth and warm with a little bite...

    here's the body makeup...per JohnJohn...
"I'm going to build it out of White Oak with a curly Alder top and flamed Maple Binding. While Alder does have a tone similar too,but not as sharp as Ash.The Oak gives it a nice rounded dark tone, but has a smooth mid tone and crips bass with rounded highs.

        thanks jeremy...

i usually see covered pups on semi-hollow bodies...does that help reduce feedback or take away some of the highs...?

This is going to be a tough decision Hoss. I saw that Tele in the other thread. That thing is going to be suwweeet!

There's so many different directions you could go. I wonder how this would sound with the "classic" C5b/59n combo? Not very creative, I know, but a proven, winning combination.

Take care Hoss. Can't wait to see this thing done.

I love those in my Sheraton. You can really hear the wood through the pickups. I like the Pearly Gates too.

I'm not too fond of the 59, I find it too bassy at the neck.

the alnico 2 pro in the neck would sound great in that guitar, but so would a set of seths.

it turns out that the top is most likely going to be birdseye maple.....

and it looks like i've got access to either a Phat Cat or 59 neck...which one do you guys think will sound the best...and with what bridge pup...something to round the bottom out a bit...?????

59 is the winner in the neck, i think it will give me the added bass response needed for the wood combos!!!

now...should i go the popular route and match it up with a C5 or a little different and go with a Custom Custom...?!

what will probably happen is it will be whichever one i can find the cheapest on e-bay...lol!
