Live Wires Metal Humbucker?

Has anyone tried the LW-HMET Live wires Metal pup? What's it like in comparison to say an EMG 81?

It's a good enough bridge pickup if you only want screaming, abrasive metal. I found it totally useless as a neck pickup. A lot of people on here always talk about how poor the clean tone from an EMG 81 or 85 is, but the Live Wire Metal's clean makes the EMG's clean tone sound like a 59 or Jazz.

I would highly recommend EMGs with the 18v mod over the Live Wire Metals.

ask jessica, she has a set. but i think they're pretty much useless unless you play balls to the walls metal. think of it as a duncan distortion ok a killing rampage

The Live Wire Metal set is awesome, so much crunch, but definitely balls to the wall metal tone. If thats all you plan to use it for, then I would definitely suggest it, but if you play other stuff too, I would look into getting a high output passive humbucker.

I played them in a Charvel and they are major crunch. A bit too much for my taste but are great for metal tones. No cleans at all. Distorts even on the clean channel.

Ye, I need something with a nice clean tone. They don't sound pushy enuff in the lower mids either. Maybe the dimebucker for me then.
