  • strat w/ distortion

I'm mainly still concerned about the neck pickup, I want to drown out some of the glass in my distorted strat sound, but don't wanna loose that bass or alot of highs, I was thinking either a tex hot or alnico 2 pro, or maybe even a 5-2 (as far as duncans, I've thought of dimarzio's VirtuAL 2). I love the personality of a strat neck sound, bubbly, quacky, really vocal in a moving your fast way. I was curious about the surfers a long while back but now I'm thinking it might be a little too glassy w/ a5 and all. which of the above would suit my need of more quack, beef, personality and less glass.

not sure if what you want is possible.....my advice......use the tone knob.

what about using alnico 3 or 4, shouldn't that compromise between glassy and soft. tone knob ain't exactly a problem solver when it comes to this.

really? I would think it'd at least give a cooler sound between string.

Anyway, when I listen to the audio samples, I like the asp1 better than the ssl1, but I haven't heard the tex hots or 5-2's yet. out of the asp1, ants tex hot, or 5-2. which would give me the fullest neck sound when distorted. cleans are awsome but having a fender 212 deville with the clean channel always with the bright switch on, it's hard to get a bad clean tone. In the mean time I'll be looking at lace, even though I didn't did their gold sensors.
