  • Humbucker for Musicmaster bass?

    Hello all,

Looking for some advice here. Is there a 4-string humbucker that will work with the narrow string spread on the Fender Musicmaster bass? 1 13/16" at the neck, 2" at the bridge.

Modifications, i.e. routing and pickguard replacement, will be necessary. I'm just trying to get the poles in the right place.

The only SD pickup that I think might work is the Rickenbacker neck humbucker, which doesn't have pole pieces. Are there any other options? I can't find width specs for original Music Man or SG bass humbuckers, but I'm sure I could find a used pickup if I knew which one to look for.

    Thanks!

    Welcome to the forum!

You might not think of it, but some people have reported good results in a Musicmaster bass using a rail for a strat, specifically a Cool Rail pickup. It'll drop right into your bass and will make string spacing a non-issue.
    Ain't nothin' but a G thang, baby.
