  • Pup orientation

Hi everyone! This is my first post.
Does it make any difference which way 'round a pup is installed in the body! ie. which end is towards the high E and which is towards the low E string?.
If so how do you know which way is which?
    thanx all

Well, what kinda pickup ya got? Flat strat pickups dont really have to go in any way, but it's usually that the "lip" of the bobbin is facing the butt of the guitar when installed in the pickguard. With staggard strat pickups, the lowest pole, should be under the B string. With humbuckers, it usually dosnt matter, but the Screw coil usually faces the neck in the neck position and the bridge in the bridge position.

But feel free to experiment, it aint gonna hurt nothin.

what pup are we talking about? in general bd is right on the money, however there are some pups that each coil is wound differently, the steves special for example. put it in one way and it sounds different than the other way but there is no hard and fast rule. if it sounds good, its in right
