  • What neck pickup to use?

I have a Dimarzio super distortion humbucker I'm going to put in the bridge position of a Gibson doubleneck to replace an X2N. Is there a pickup I can use for the neck that would give me that great middle position sound of both pickups at the same time like Page or does the super distortion kill that sound off.

    Thanks guys & gals
    My songs....enjoy! (hopefully )

any good neck pup would do...the SD is gonna nix some of that tone but not all of it...try a 59...amd when you try it...you'll want a 59 in the bridge too! , unless you like the hotter pup...and then you'll want a Custom 5...good luck!

How 'bout an antiquity in the neck mixed with the super distortion in the bridge.

Any pickup wud go in the neck and match, its what sound your after. I f you want to get a good sound out of the middle position, just think of two tones and match them correctly to get the sound you want. I.e smooth and fat in the neck and trebley with lots of bite in the bridge and uve got a fat smooth middle pup with some extra bite for funky rhythmic styles.

To match with the super distortion i reckon a Paf pro or a air norton, the paf pro will have more cut and transparency in the neck or the air norton will be smoother and bigger sounding in the neck, depending on what sound your after.

Also a good option is to instal a coil split that splits both neck and bridge pups so that u get a more stratty sound in all positions and with a high output bridge pup it will split very well.

To get the Jimmy Page middle position sound, I'd get a pair of 59's and call it a day.
