  • Thankyou

Last time I visited I asked for advice on pick ups for a Gibson Special and was advised to fit Vintage and Hot P90's. Having waited many week for their arrival in Great Britain (you guys in USA don't know lucky you are) They sound great and our 17 year old guitar playing son is delighted.

    Thanks.

Anyone out there got advice on speaker and amp. Please bear in mind we live in a modest size house. I would like my son to be heard in the USA but not from his bedroom.

    Re: Thankyou

It depends on which kind of sound he wants and what style he plays...

    What size? Watt? Price? etc...

You know that there's a lot of amps for everybody!!!

    Waiting for your news!!!

      Re: Thankyou

I'd say a small tube amp, like the Fender Pro Junior, although I don't know what the best deals are over there ...

I think Ashdown makes a Peacemaker 20 that may be reasonable there, but I'd ask about their reliability ... it seems they may have had some problems. However, they're supposed to sound great, especially for the money.

Also, small Vox or Marshalls might be your best bet over there.

For the budding bedroom player/occasional gigger, digital modeling amps have a lot to offer. Namely, the ability to sound like your playing loud, but not necessarily doing so. Personally, I'd look into something like the VOx Valvetronix lineup, specifically their 60w model.

The Line 6 Spider II would probably keep him happy for quite some time. They sound great, and are criminally inexpensive. They also offer a variety of sizes & prices.
