Bournes. I have an EVH "low-friction" pot and it RULES. Very linear, as the volume swells near-perfectly with no weird "hot spots" like most CTS pots I've used. They make audio-taper ones for tone too. The new Seymour Duncan pots that are coming out, will be made by Bournes. They're made in the USA and are military spec.

Before you go and buy an expensive pot, just put some electronics lubricant in your current pot. It makes a helluva big of a difference!

As far as I know, the EVH pots only come in smooth 1/4" shafts, so your choice of knobs is limited. I bought a nice, knurled Peavey set and they're great for volume swells and stuff.

I tried some Ernie Ball Pots. worked out pretty well. im not sure if theyre the best pots ever, but the guitar i put them in sounded very good and the part itself felt and looked solid.

So I installed a Bourns volume pot in my new Jackson for the bridge. The neck is a JB with a ceramic mag so I put a CTS push/pull there for single coil clean neck sounds, no tone pot. The Bourns pot is really low resistance and the smoothest I have ever used. It's nice because unlike CTS, the volume dosen't drop out after 1/3 turn. It's smooth, responsive, and maintains tone as you back the volume down. At $10 it's a good purchase I think. Very nice if you do volume swell stuff too.

The DiMarzio pots have a good action and taper. Not sure who makes them.
