    I've heard many people say that "EMG's make a $100 guitar sound like a $400 guitar and a $1200 guitar sound like a $400 guitar", that being said, maybe you should consider them, even though I don't like them myself.

      that was me! lol i've conducted 'experiments', and it's not quite that scenario.

      an EMG will make an $80 guitar sound like an $80 guitar, just with an EMG in...

      wood affects tone with EMGs a whole lot more than i previously thought.. plus, keep in mind you're gonna need to fit a battery and EMG pots and the like...
