I didn't vote, as I've never used the Custom or EMG 85, but I can vouch for the Distortion... it's cool. I'm hoping the Custom lives up to it's SD Forum hype, too, as I'm about to get one

Haven't played a Custom or an 85... but I have played the Distortion - so disregard my vote as anything but prejudice

I've heard it mentioned on this board before that a Distortion was like a Custom on steroids.

I've played the Distortion, Custom and an EMG 89. If you've read any of my posts, you know that the Distortion is my absolute favorite.

I think the Custom (i have one) sounds good for Metal. It has a tight clear crunchy sound, but to be honest, sometimes I wish it had a touch more chunk/chug and possibly a touch more thickness to it.

I am looking to try the distortion my self to see how it compares to the Custom.. and if the Distortion is actully a Custom on steroids, I'd say go for that first and if you like it, stick with it.

              Good luck,

The Distortion is definitely your ticket, then.

I just installed a DD and I must say, it is sweet as hell. Works better than an 85 IMO. The 85 does do Pinch harmonics a bit better, but you can hear its lack of fullness.
Its not about love or hate, wrong or right, its about perception. Just do it, say it, feel it. There are no lies... lies are too human. Its so much thought that its none at all. Its no religion, its not defined. Its not even real. Its about being connected to the point that you didnt even know. Its the reassuring peace in pain because it hit you & its over & you felt it. Its the pits of Hell found in Heaven. Its not being connected with a god... we are all god...
