parallel or series?

how should i wire my smb4a pickup into a bartolini 2.4 preamp?

i want the bass to sound real real punchy, like an alkaline trio, rise against or thursday.

also if i do choose the series path, how do i "insulate" the red and white wires that i would solder together?

please help !!
