  • match for JB?

i've got a JB in the bridge of an old alder soloist style guitar w/ maple neck and r/w fingerboard. i need to put a single coil in the neck, as there is an empty slot there currently. i'm looking for a strat style sound from the neck, but don't want too much of a change in volume between the two pickups.

    thanks,

    Re: match for JB?

The single coil sized humbuckers will give you more output and keep you closer matched in output but you won't get a traditional Strat tone from them, it's more of a hybrid single coil/humbucker type of tone.

A Hot Stack will offer some extra output while being hum cancelling but they are a bit middier and warmer than a true single coil.

True single coils will hum and will not keep up as well in output as the options listed above but they will be very "Stratty" for lack of a better term.

Lots of options, but you need to know exactly what you want from the neck pickup to make choosing the right pickup for that guitar.
