  • Looking for suggestions please...

    Hello, kinda new here.
I currently have a Les paul Studio, which I had replaced the Bridge 498t pickup with a Seymour Duncan Sh-14 (Custom 5). I like the sound of this pickup in this guitar and my current amp Marshall DSL 100.
I just recently bought a Washburn 80's model les paul Custom clone mahogony body, neck, and Ebony fret board, I just recently replaced the stock pickups with the Stewart Macdonald Gold Tones, (Hot overwounds). These pickups just plain suck!
I am looking for suggestions for something to replace in the Washburn Wp-80 Bridge, this guitar does seem to have a little brightness to it, or high end sizzle that my Gisbon studio doesn't have (could be the current stew mac pickup)?
I do like the Custom 5 Sh-14; however I wish it had a tad more mid-range to it, and I'm not sure how it would set in the Washburn.
I've never tried the JB, but hear that it is a goo replacement in les pauls; however I'm not sure If I will like it from the lack of Bass (low end) I hear people also say about it.

    I'm open to suggestions.

    Thanks
    J

Any suggestions? I play music in the style of Foo Fighters, Lit, Punkish Pop Rock.

SH-11/TB-11 -- The Custom Custom™ is our SH-5 Duncan Custom™ humbucker with an Alnico II magnet for very warm and smooth highs, more midrange, and a buttery bottom end. It's a good choice for players who need a traditional vintage tone with increased output

Not sure the CC would fit the more aggressive style he's after... perhaps the Distortion or JB?

Ya thanks for the replys.. I love the C5 although in my rig it can get a little bright in the high end, I just wish it had some more mids to it and it would be my A+ pickup.
Some where I found that they can overwind a C5 possibly to add more mid-range?
            Does anyone know about this?

Also is there really much difference betweeen the The Real JB bridge humbucker compared to the Duncan Desinged (JB clone) which is in my Schecter C1?

If they are the same I think the JB does lack the low end I may be needing.

            hmm

            looking for mre input.

            thanks

If the C5 is too bright with not enough mids, then the CC is your best friend. Warmer than the C5 with tons more mids.

                Re: Looking for suggestions please...

The JB and the Distortion are both a little lacking in thelow end department, of course not for me, but it sounds like that may be the case with you, in which case the Custom Custom Which has a very smooth bottem end may also be too lacking in low end EQ...
This may seem a little different, but my suggestion is the PATB-3 Blues Saraceno Model. It's got the low end covered, great pick-up for Blues or Rock and I think it would work well in the washburn.

                  Hmm.

Too many to choose from, I guess I can start with one then start working my way around with them. THe Blues Sacreno is na interesting choice also.
                  thanks guys
