  • Need opinion on neck/mid pup for strat w.hot rail bridge

Thinking of getting another strat with hot rails in bridge. I had this set up before with a duckbucker in mid and lil 59 in neck. Not bad. I was wondering if there is something for the neck/mid that would be better ala heavy style like Zakk, Lynch, Shadows Fall.

Also should I leeave the mid pup out? I notice sometimes when playing my strat now it seems to get in the way if picking?

Interesting idea about leaving out the middle pup... I too have considered that, but it was because my middle pick-up sucked, so I replaced it.
If you wanna play that heavey stuff and you are really set on the hot rails, then I would suggest maybe a lil screaming demon(Lynch), maybe a JB Jr...
I think you would be using mostly the bridge pick-up if you were playing the hard rock, so you might not need to look at real high output stuff for the other pick-ups.
Another option would be quarterpounders. They're high output, and have great tone for a strat.
A bridge pick-up I would personally consider would be the livewire HOT, great for metal, just have to have another pick-up for good clean tones.

I thought Janick uses Jb Jr. pickups or does he also use QP's sometimes?
