  • distortion in explorer

    i had an explorer (korina) with a duncan distortion in the bridge. i never liked the sound, is this because of the wood?? i have sold the guitar now though im just wondering why it always sounded poor.
    Guitars:
    Jap Fender '71 Tele
    Jackson KV-4

    Amp:
    Starfield (Ibanez) SVA-1

    the pickup height might have been wrong, e.g. too high or low against the strings?

      I've never had a Distortion sound bad. Granted, I've not used it in korina. But I have a couple in mahogany guitars which are tonally very simialr to korina wood. It could just be personal preference, too. As much as it pains me, the Distortion is not loved by all.
